Will You Watch Green Arrow and the Canaries? A CW Spinoff Worth It?

As an avid fan of the Arrowverse, I am excited to see if Green Arrow and the Canaries can lived up to the expectations set by Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. With a backdoor pilot airing on January 21, it’s a perfect chance to dive into the newest addition to the Arrowverse.

Green Arrow and the Canaries: A Return to the Canaries

It’s been a while since we last saw The Canaries in full force, thanks to Green Arrow and the Canaries. This spinoff promises to bring back iconic characters, such as Mia Dearden and her dynamic team. My only concern lies in Mia's costume. It's almost too dark and may not do her character justice. Additionally, it would be fantastic to see William Champion's character become a full-fledged part of the action, perhaps as a member of Overwatch 2.0 in Shadowhunters.

Will the Backdoor Pilot Lead to Success?

The Arrowverse has a track record of delivering quality content, and with the upcoming backdoor pilot, it's a chance for the CW to see if Green Arrow and the Canaries can stand on its own. From the Flash forwards and the future changes brought about by the Crisis, we are essentially starting from scratch with this pilot. The addition of Laurel Lance and Dinah Lance as new cast members will also provide fresh dynamics and storylines. However, at the moment, Green Arrow and the Canaries has only been ordered for a backdoor pilot, and only time will tell if it will secure a full-seasonorder.

Looking Forward to Future Guest Appearances

One of the most exciting aspects of this spinoff is the potential for guest appearances. Characters like John Diggle and Lyla Landry from Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow could make significant contributions. These characters' stories span decades, and seeing their younger versions alongside their current selves would be thrilling. Am I Comitted to Watching?

While I am eager to see what Green Arrow and the Canaries has in store, my commitment to watching it regularly will depend on the pilot. Like any ARROWverse show, The Canaries has not been bad enough to abandon completely. However, if the pilot does not click, I would be fine watching it on Netflix as a collection of standalone episodes rather than a weekly series. According to my research, the CW is quite likely to pick up the pilot for the coming season, especially considering the massive fanbase and past success of the ARROWverse.

In the meantime, I will give the backdoor pilot a chance, hoping that it sets the stage for a compelling series. With the promise of strong character dynamics and potential guest appearances, I remain optimistic about the future of Green Arrow and the Canaries.
