In this article, I will share the surprising list of iconic movies that I genuinely have never seen, and the reasons behind my decisions. Anti-Lemming Instinct or the “Hype Thermostat”: This phenomenon describes my tendency to avoid films that everyone else loves to death. When a film is praised to the skies and people say, "You’re not a true movie lover if you haven't seen this," my interest instantly vanishes. It’s almost as if I challenge myself to enjoy films without the pressure of mainstream hype. This has led me to pursue and enjoy films like Parasite, City of God, or Spirited Away in spite of popular opinion.

Surprising Gaps in My Viewing List

Given my deep engagement with horror and crime genres, you might think that I would have seen iconic films like The Godfather, The Conjuring, The Exorcist, or Silence of the Lambs. However, these examples are outside of my usual preferences. While I am a fan of certain films like The Departed, The Pianist, and The Usual Suspects, there are still a handful of movies I haven't seen due to personal preference and challenges with hype.

Exceptions and Embracing Boredom

Having said that, I do have a few exceptions where movies do pique my interest, especially those in the superhero genre.
