The Misadventures of the Avengers Between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War

Following the events of Captain America: Civil War and before the climactic battle in Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers faced numerous challenges that shaped their future and the state of the world. This period saw each member exploring their roles and the consequences of the Accords, leading to both personal and team evolution.

Tony Stark (Iron Man)

Tony Stark, ever the innovator, focused on personal growth and repairing relationships. He collaborated with Happy Hogan on physical therapy for James Rhodes, ensuring he was fit and ready to rejoin the team. Tony also pushed the boundaries of technology, enhancing his weapons and suits with nanotechnology. Infused with upgrades, Tony's suits were better equipped for combat situations. His relationship with Pepper Potts also deepened, as he worked to be a better man for her. Meanwhile, Tony maintained contact with Alexander Pierce, handling small-scale issues that the Accords placed on the remaining Avengers for resolution.

Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow)

Tamara Petrova, also known as Natasha Romanoff, went into hiding after the events in Civil War. She fled to a safe house in Norway, relying on her extensive past and contacts for assistance. During this time, Natasha learned that Yelena Belova, one of her fellow former Widows, was under the mind control of the Taskmaster. To save Yelena and the other Widows, Natasha teamed up with her old family members: Yelena, Yuri Nikiforov (Red Guardian), and Melina. Together, they tackled the Taskmaster and dismantled his operation, freeing the Widows from their mind control. Afterward, Natasha returned to her life in hiding, where she was given a Quinjet to help assist Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, and Wanda Maximoff in their escape.

Steve Rogers (Captain America)

Steve Rogers, now an influential figure, retreated into hiding with Sam Wilson (Falcon) and Wanda Maximoff. The trio moved frequently to avoid detection by government surveillance. Vision, the synthetic being, continued his surveillance but at some point, Wanda and Vision split off to spend time alone. Tony Stark revealed to Bruce Banner in Avengers: Infinity War that Vision had disabled the tracking device on the former's suit. Steve, Sam, and Wanda remained in hiding, using their skills and resources to ensure their safety.

Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier)

Bucky Barnes returned to Wakanda with T'Challa to be crowned King, honoring his father. The process of thawing and subsequent therapy took place, with Ayo and Shuri working to restore Bucky to normalcy. They dismantled the trigger words that activated his alter ego and rebuilt a new arm for him. Bucky's healing and catharsis proved crucial in his return to the Avenger team.

Ronan (Thor and Hulk)

Thor, alongside Hulk (Bruce Banner), ventured into space. Their journey brought them far from the political and ethical conflict on Earth. Thor spent his time in various cosmic encounters and adventures, while Hulk experimented and dealt with the complexities of his dual nature. Their absence may have provided some respite from the human sphere but could also be seen as a strategic move to avoid confronting new threats.

Hawkeye (Clint Barton)

Clint Barton took a deal from the government to stay on house arrest and train his daughter in archery. This decision allowed him to maintain a semblance of normalcy while also handling personal growth and family obligations. His commitment and guidance to his daughter were key moments in ensuring her future was bright and hopeful.

Scott Lang (Ant-Man)

Scott’s deal with the government took him to the Quantum Realm, working alongside his family to explore and navigate this mysterious dimension. His absence coincides with the Blip, leaving his family unaffected and suggesting the ongoing impact of the events in Avengers: Infinity War. Scott's experience in the Quantum Realm deepened his understanding of his powers and his connection to the wider cosmic scope of the Avengers' battles.
