My Journey as a Screenwriter: From Script Options to Forgotten Genres

As a seasoned screenwriter, I have traversed the landscape of screenplay writing, from optioned projects to pitched ideas, with a primary focus on sci-fi, fantasy, and action-related genres.

Optioned and Sold Screenplays

Over the years, I have had the privilege of writing several screenplays that have been optioned and even sold. One of my notable works is a horror screenplay that is currently in pre-production, setting a terrifying stage for audiences to explore. Additionally, I co-developed and co-wrote a sci-fi television series that has piqued the interest of multiple networks and production studios. The series is part of a package of sci-fi and horror projects that we have been pitching to various platforms. This collaboration has not only expanded my portfolio but also opened doors to new opportunities in the industry.

Other Genres

My screenplays are diverse, ranging from heist films and action adventure to horror, superhero, and even rom-coms and family comedies. My primary focus, however, lies in sci-fi/fantasy and action-related writing, with a profound love for crafting stories for the comic book film genre. It is this genre where I find particular satisfaction, as evidenced by a few incompletely produced or optioned projects that initially garnered attention from producers but did not lead to production.

A Unique Rom-Com

A unique rom-com that I co-wrote, titled Collecting Strays, revolves around the issues of animal rescue and adoption. The screenplay features relatable and funny characters and has received very positive feedback. Although no offers have been made yet, the script continues to be of interest to studios and potential stars involved in animal rescue and adoption. This project holds a special place in my portfolio, and I remain hopeful about its future prospects.

Continuous Growth in Screenwriting

Since my last update, I have completed several more screenplays, including two TV pilots and a couple of feature films. One of the film scripts I would like to highlight is a comedy titled The Ghosts of Alcatraz. This script introduces the idea of the ghosts of Al Capone and other notorious gangsters possessing the bodies of three teenage pop stars, leading to an absurd and comedic crime spree. The film also involves three high school kids who wish to be professional paranormal investigators, employed to find and stop the possessed pop stars.

The script’s premise is absurd and laced with a unique humor that is both entertaining for young audiences and adults. The goal is to star Miley Cyrus as the pop star possessed by Capone’s ghost, with the pop stars themselves playing their roles with guns, robbing banks, and chewing cigars in the style of classic gangster flicks. The film aims to have plot twists that keep the audience engaged and entertained. The project includes a talented director and producer who are keen on turning it into a family film with a dash of humor that appeals to both children and adults.

Future Aspirations

While these projects may not have made it to the big screen yet, I remain optimistic about their future. I am currently reaching out to established producers and network executives, such as those at DC, Marvel, Warner Bros., and Disney, in hopes that either one of my specific projects will be picked up or that I might be hired to work on a project they are developing. My aspirations are to bring these unique and engaging stories to life, ultimately making a significant impact in the industry.

Conclusion

Through continuous effort and a diverse range of skills, I have carved out a niche for myself in the film and television industry. From optioned scripts to ongoing projects and new ideas, my journey as a screenwriter continues to evolve, bringing new challenges and aspirations with each completed screenplay.

I am eager to see how these projects shape up, and I am constantly seeking new opportunities to contribute to the realm of storytelling. If you are interested in learning more about my work or if you have any partnerships or collaborations to offer, feel free to reach out. Together, we can bring these unique stories to life.
