A Nostalgic Journey Through My Favorite Bollywood Movies

When the world talks about Bollywood, it's a genre that brings to mind a diverse array of stories and characters. It's more than just movies; it's a cultural treasure that resonates with emotions and values. In this article, I'll take you through some of my favorite Bollywood films, including 'Student of the Year' and 'Raanjhana'.

Student of the Year

One of the most famous Bollywood films I hold dear is 'Student of the Year'. This movie stands out not only for its compelling plot but also for the complex character of Abhimanyu. Abhimanyu's journey is a reflection of many young Indians who struggle with aspirations and realities.

From the very beginning, Abhimanyu faces numerous challenges. He excels in academics, sports, and other activities, demonstrating an ambitious and driven nature. The most beautiful scene in the film is when everything starts to come together for him, culminating in his achieving the prestigious 'Student of the Year Trophy'. However, life is never easy, and it reveals that Abhimanyu transformed into an investment banker, showing that the path to success is often riddled with obstacles.

Ranjhana

Among the many films I've come across, 'Ranjhana' is an extraordinary piece. Directed by Aanand L. Rai—who has a knack for creating masterpieces—the film is a passionate, romantic journey set in the atmospheric city of Benaras, with an intricate plot that moves to the politics of Delhi.

'Ranjhana' features a talented starcast including Dhanush, Mohammad Jeeshan Ayyub, Abhay Deol, and Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar. The director's ability to evoke a myriad of emotions—ranging from the thrill of first love to the regret of unrequited affection—makes every scene raw and authentic. The dialogues, songs, background music, and even the setting of Benaras contribute to creating a memorable experience.

The opening and ending scenes of 'Ranjhana' are particularly moving. The opening scene captures the essence of life and love in the city of Benaras, while the ending scene is a poignant testament to the sacrifices one might make for love. 'Tum Tak', one of the songs from the film, composed by A.R. Rahman, is a therapy for me whenever I'm feeling down.

Other Favorites

Moreover, I also cherish 'Chhichhore' for its themes around mental health and societal expectations. '3 Idiots', another standout, is my all-time favorite as it delves into the intricacies of the education system and the importance of individuality. 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' is inspired by India's cricket legend, MS Dhoni, and Sushant Singh Rajput's portrayal is nothing short of commendable. Lastly, 'Shershaah' is a tribute to Captain Vikram Batra, a true hero, with Siddharta Malhotra and Kiara Advani delivering stellar performances.

While Bollywood may not be everyone's cup of tea, the magic of these movies lies in their ability to connect with people on an emotional level. If you're a fan of the genre, these movies are definitely worth watching.
