30 Days to Live: The Movies That Would Define My Final Days

When faced with the possibility that your time on this earth could be drastically reduced, your thoughts turn to the moments that matter most. For many, the list of movies they wish they could see before passing includes tales of adventure, romance, humor, and suspense. Here, I reflect on the films that would define my final 30 days.

The Princess Bride (1987)

The Princess Bride is a versatile and timeless movie that is the essence of adventure and short, sweet romance. It's a genre-bending gem that excels in action, comedy, and fantasy. No matter which type of film you prefer, you're sure to find it in this movie. From a child's perspective, it was initially cast as a romantic tale, but the action and humor quickly stole the show.

The Enduring Appeal of The Princess Bride

It's often said that The Princess Bride is one of only five perfect movies. Yet, while it is incredibly well-crafted, there's no denying that it's also highly entertaining and emotional. Whether you're relishing its sweeping epic world or marveling at its quirky romance, The Princess Bride is a film that stays with you long after the credits roll. The film has become a cult classic and has been cherished by many famous actors and directors who have talked about the impact it had on their lives.

Star Wars Trilogy (1977-1983)

Another franchise that's close to my heart is Star Wars, especially the original trilogy from 1977-1983. However, the versions available today have been remastered with added effects, which means the scenes and story arcs may have changed slightly. For instance, the scene where Han Solo shoots and kills the bounty hunter with a hidden pistol under the table is a fan favorite, establishing Han Solo as the iconic "shoot first, ask questions later" character.

Turkish Drama: A New World of Storytelling

One thing I want to experience before I die is the full gamut of Turkish dramas. These shows, with their intricate plots, stunning visuals, and compelling narratives, have recently caught my attention. While I only discovered Turkish drama recently, I find myself yearning to watch every single piece of Turkish storytelling that has ever been created. Of course, achieving that goal would require several lifetimes, which is not something I can immediately resolve. But, I'm hopeful that my final decades could be dedicated to exploring these incredible performances and stories.

Jurassic Park: A Dinosaur Adventure

When I face the harsh reality of having only 30 days to live, however, one of those final films will be the original Jurassic Park (1993). The survival-based, scientific thriller about dinosaurs reanimating from fossils is not only thrilling but it also resonates with my deep love for the Jurassic Park franchise. Particularly, the sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) is a must-watch.

A Universal Love for Entertainment

While I would gravitate towards these specific movies, I'm not averse to watching other films like the Star Wars trilogy or the Jaws franchise. The versatility and emotional depth of movies make them a remarkable way to pass the time, no matter the genre or story. Movies offer a window into different worlds, different times, and different people. They can be a source of enjoyment, comfort, and even solace during uncertain times.

Final Words on My Phobia of Death. Death has been my number one fear since I was young, and it's intensified over the years. The thought of it is profoundly scary, and the idea of closing my eyes and taking my last breath is a nightmare. While I would cherish the opportunity to watch these movies, I also acknowledge the fear that comes with my impending final days. It's a daunting prospect, but one that I accept with a hope that the memories I create and the stories I see will serve as a comforting legacy.
